v “Male and female created he them.” (Gen. 1:27)

v “For God is not the author of confusion.” (1 Cor. 14:33)

v Definition of confusion: Ignorance can create confusion or rejecting the truth can lead to confusion (i.e. evolution).

Transitional Sentence: Confusion of roles is detrimental to God’s order and design.

I. The Infusion of Confusion

A. Confusion on the Bible

b) So many roads and interpretations that you cannot know which, if any, are true.

c) Christianity is dismissed as just another interpretation.

d) People dismiss your views by saying that it is just one interpretation versus another interpretation

a) Men base their sense of self-worth on achievement, women on relationships

B. Male & Female in the Husband/Wife Relationship

1. Some Basic Rules

a) Husband and wife should have clearly defined roles

(1) Father: protector, provider

(2) Mother: Nurturer

b) Father should lead the home in love

c) Father and mother should be affectionate

d) Mother shows respect

2. Brains are wired differently

a) Men are compartmentalized, women are interconnected

(1) Man can divorce sex from romance, women can’t

b) Men go to a cave under stress, women to the backyard

(1) Men say, “I’ll be back” when you go to your cave

Meets the man’s basic needs

“Weaker vessel” means she is like china, not a tin cup

She needs verbal assurances and protection

(2) To men, words are cheap. So, they don’t care as much what women say. They like what women do. So, the wife is not to nag her husband into salvation but to live in front of him as an example.

C. Male & Female in the raising of kids

1. Boys driven by achievement

a) “Me do it.”

b) “Never ask for directions” because they have to do it themselves.

2. Boys like competition, girls like cooperation

3. Boys are action oriented, girls are verbal

a) Thus, school which requires long periods of sitting is actually against their nature and feminizing them

b) Boys get physical when frustrated, girls get argumentative

c) Roughhousing is normal for boys

(1) Don’t feminize them by discouraging all physical play

(2) Have times for them to be boys

d) Men want to get to the point, women want to give all of the details

4. Boys are goal focused

a) They do one thing at a time

b) So, if a guy is involved in one thing and then the wife interjects another task, idea, project, etc., he often gets frustrated. He would prefer to wait until his attention is finished on the present task.
