Trust God When Things Are Tough

When things are going bad, just remember the story of Bubba.  Bubba grew up like any old southern boy worth his salt, chucking hay bales and sporting a confederate flag across the back window of his pick-up truck.  One day, however, his childhood sweetheart, Matilda, dumped him for Billy-Bob Williams who had just returned home from the army sporting a fancy, clean cut uniform that just swept Matilda off her feet.
In order to try to regain her affections, Bubba decided to join the air force, and the paratroopers in particular.  He figured that this would really impress Matilda and recapture her heart.
After boot camp Bubba went to special training to learn how to be a paratrooper.  They learned how to fold parachutes, how to jump from the plane, and the proper way to land when they jumped.  Finally, the big day came for their first jump.  Needless to say, Bubba was as nervous as polecat in a dog pound.  The instructor gave the final instructions.  "Men, it is time for your first jump.  When the plane is over the designated spot you will all line up single file and jump one after another from the plane at three second intervals.  After jumping, count to 10 at which time you will proceed to take your left hand and reach across to your right side and pull your rip cord.  If for some reason you parachute fails to open, don't panic.  Take your right hand and reach across to your left side and pull your emergency chute rip cord.  After you land there will be a truck at the landing area for you to ride back in.
As the plane flew over the jump spot, the sergeant lined the men and ordered them to jump.  Each man took his turn jumping from the plane.  Bubba was the last one to jump, but he froze.  The sergeant, seeing his predicament, assisted Bubba with a kick in the rear.  As Bubba flew out of the plane he counted to ten in one syllable.  He then reached for his rip cord and pulled it.  Nothing happened.  He then took his other hand and pulled it across his chest hoping to open the emergency chute.  Again, nothing happened.  As Bubba whizzed past the other jumpers one of them heard Bubba complaining, "Uh-huh, and I bet there ain't no truck down there either!"
There are times in life when not only don't the parachutes work, but the truck "ain't waiting either."  However, God has promised to never leave us or forsake us.
